SEASON OF CHOCOLATE!

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text] Chocolate Season has arrived. Pristin blue sky for a week after Thanksgiving, warm nice days were continuing in the SF Bay Area , but all of a sudden a strong wind for a day and rain all day next, though most of the brown, red and yellow leaves have fallen to the ground. We are entering the winter season. In spite of this change of weather, the day time temperatures are still quite warm. Sorry for the people in many other states. However, putting the house-heater on, wearing long sleeves and cooking warm dishes, we are catching up to the cold winter; chocolate season has definitely arrived. From so many desirable recipes to choose from, I picked these two; Dark Chocolate Candy with dry fruits and nuts ( no-baking; quick and tasty), and irresistible French Chocolate Macaron . My house smells entirely chocolate. Let’s Coco Beat this Holiday season!   [/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _builde...

PEACH TART

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] SUMMER IS EVERYWHERE AND PEACHES ARE FULL IN THE SEASON. THEIR FRAGRANCE, AROMA IS IRRESISTIBLY SWEET BUT ELEGANT and their texture, flesh is soft and luscious. They look beautiful too. Peaches are real things in summer treat. Perfectly ripe peaches are special but they are fragile and easily damaged, so good handling is important. Nowadays most of the peaches we find at the supermarket are very under ripe, so it takes a few days to ripen at room temperature. I normally pick peaches that have fair skins, no bruises, and they slightly smell the peach aroma. When I come home, rinse them gently in cold water and leave them on the kitchen counter for a few days or until I find nice peachy arom...

BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] The Craze of Gluten-Free fashion may have gone now, or at least it seems that is not a hot topic anymore . It was once blueberries are also the same which had a very strong popularity, but they are pretty much gone today. However, the real blueberries season is here. They are so plump, juicy, tasty, and gladly they are not expensive anymore. That is really wonderful. And these muffins or I could say “ cupcakes or cake ”, are great for summer breakfast, brunch, and take with you for your next picnic. This recipe calls for light vegetable oil instead of using butter (of course you can substitute back to butter) and I often make without sourcream, but adding fresh Ricotta cheese instead. I als...

STRAWBERRY MOUSSE - MOUSSE AUX FRAISE

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” background_size=”initial”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] Hot and Dry season has arrived in California. All stone fruits are available; plums, peaches, nectarin, cherries. Yet strawberries are still abundant and very delicious. This mousse is very simple to make with as little as only 3 ingredients (fresh strawberries, sugar and whipping cream or creme fraiche or meringue.). It is a perfect dessert for a hot and dry day afternoon.  And you are a bit mood to have some  chocolate sauce with it…..I added the simple recipe at the end. Strawberry and chocolate are good friends! STRAWBERRY MOUSSE — Mousse aux Fra...

STRAWBERRIES; ARE SO GREAT!

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] Strawberries are so pretty and taste great right now. Local strawberries are all over the supermarkets and farmers market . It’s the best season of the year for California strawberries because the spring is very warm but not too hot and dry, yet we get a pretty cool evening. It is also a great pleasure making strawberry desserts; strawberry shortcake, strawberry tart, strawberry mille-feuille and ice cream, just for a few. I love them all equally. However I decided to go for making a simple strawberry tart today. I was really craving this beautiful one and light taste. Here I would like to introduce my super organic strawberries from my tiny backyard, and store bought organic strawberries ...

SORBETTO NAPOLITAN -- STRAWBERRY, CHOCOLATE AND PINEAPPLE

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] When I was a young boy, my favorite ice cream was a trio of three flavors; strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream. It was packaged in a square paper box, called “ NAPOLITAN ”. It was a great treat every Saturday afternoon, often Sunday too after Sunday school, in the spring after the baseball game.  I did not know why it was called NAPOLITAN, but it always made me “happy my day”, yammy satisfaction everytime! Most dairy products weren’t so rich and gourmet like today’s products, however as a kid, I really enjoyed dairy fat products; every spoonful of rich and  sweet confections, particularly our “ Napolitan ” made everlasting my childhood memories.  Years later I came t...

CHOCOLATE FLAN - Bundi di Cioccolato

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Blog text about recipe with images” background_layout=”light” _builder_version=”3.0.83″] An Old Fashioned Rich Chocolate Flan, an Italian Style. This recipe comes from an old cook book ‘TRATTORIA’ by Patrica Wells . I enjoy reading this book because all recipes are from a correction of actual small restaurants called ‘Trattoria’ in Italy. In my opinion this recipe is a kind of old-fashioned chocolate mousse rather than flan. Flan should be much litter, no heavy cream and more eggs..makes lighter and softer that is “Flan” to me, however I made it without hesitation, and result is exactly I was thinking about it. The author noted that this should serve warm or room temperature, which makes sense because if you chill them they become very dense in texture and taste a bi...

Particularly where I reside, south of San Francisco, has the most mild weather around. It is not only in Bay Area’s best but it’s the best in the entire California. Local strawberries are beautifully displayed in the produce markets now, yet their taste is not so great at the moment…cherries should be coming soon. Apples are not in season, also nowadays, many apples available in supermarkets...
